Current Favs

1. Pinterest

I’m not going to lie, when I first got on Pinterest I wasn’t a fan. I didn’t understand why people cared about looking at things stangers like. Now I get it. I have found some of the cutest crafts and ideas on there. People are just so smart. And have a lot of time on their hands.

I did try one recipe I saw on Pinterest… okay maybe recipe is a stretch. I saw this picture of chocolate covered chocolate chip cookie dough and literally started drooling.

I am pleased to report, I am a huge fan.

2. Mane 'n Tale

I’ve heard for a while now, that using horse shampoo and conditioner can make your hair grow faster. I’ve always wanted to try it, but wasn’t willing to have my hair smell like animals or feel like sandpaper. But this summer I got my grown up hair cute, and now I no longer want to feel like a grown up. I’m ready for my long hair to come back. So I splurged and bought the horse shampoo.

It is so wonderful. It smells heavenly and my hair is super soft! I’ve only been using it for 2 weeks, but I can already tell my hair is growing and it is definitely thicker. I will be back to my “long hair, don’t care” mentality in no time. Or something like that.

3. Up All Night

I know I talk about TV a lot… probably more than anyone should… but this show is seriously hilarious. I watched it twice and laughed out loud both times.

I just love Christina Applegate and Will Arnett together. If I didn’t love Any Poehler so much, I would want them to be married in real life.

4. Soap Operas

Many of you probably know this about me already, but I am a soap opera fan. Big time. My earliest memory of the daytime world was when I was 6 years old sneaking out of nap time at Meme’s house to watch Days of Our Lives with her.

From there, my obsession snowballed. I spent many hours of the summer watching Passions (RIP) Young and the Restless, General Hospital (Carly + Sonny forever) and All My Children. I am so sad that so many soap operas are being cancelled, but then I remember all the immoral and horrible things soap operas represent and I’m not as sad.

But as long as I live, I will be a Days fan. Shawn+Belle, Bo+Brady, Mimi+Rex… yeah, I am a little OTT.

5. Snappy Salads

I don’t really have a story about why I love this place so much. J’Lyn and I could probably live off Snaps for the rest of our lives… or at least once a week.

Happy Tuesday!

Cowboys, Harry Hines and PB&J

Last weekend, my alma mater, ACU, played a football game in the Dallas Cowboy stadium. Yay! If only I cared about Wildcat football..no offense. But this was a great way to see Cowboy Stadium for just $10. The perks of a student I.D.

A group of our friends came into town on Friday night and we spent the evening eating, chatting, laughing, and even dancing. It was so great to catch up with such sweet girls we had missed terribly.

Just when we thought the night was over, and people were heading to bed, my old roommate Tamrah went down to the parking lot to find that her car had been towed. (Apparently, we don’t mess around with illegal parking here at the Village) So at roughly 1:00am Emily Caldwell, Tam and I were driving around some rough parts of Dallas. To give you a hint of what we encountered: rain, 35 completely shut down, people throwing up out of their car, prostitutes, lots of cop cars, gas light, screaming babies, and yes, finally the car-stealers.

I am happy to report that for a mere $170 Tamrah got her car back. What an adventure….and a lesson learned.

Saturday was game day! We spent the afternoon catching up with our friends who drove in from Abilene and lunch at Chuy’s. Yes, please.

It was kind of fun to put on our ACU stuff again and pretend to be a fan. Love this group of people a lot. Come back soon!

Sunday, I spent the day working on the DFW Fall Shootout. It was such a fun event to have a part in. The theme was Back to School and we had an actual school bus! So fun.

Hope you had a fabulous weekend as well!

TV Recap

Now that I am a real adult, each afternoon I find myself looking forward to which show comes on tonight. I should be embarrassed that I have absolutely no plans at night, but, frankly, I’m excited about TV this season.

Yes, I love Most Eligible Dallas. Get over it.

The Sing-Off. Mmm. 1. Love me some Nick Lachey 2. All male acapella groups just really do it for me. Also, I have listened to the Delilah group on repeat.

The New Girl—funny. Now, I am probably about to upset some people, but I am not a fan of Zooey Deschanel. After I saw her and her non-personality on Regis and Kelly last week, I kind of can’t stand her…but I’ll give the show a chance.

Glee-duh. Such a fan. I am a Blaine lover for life.

The X Factor—I don’t really get it. I feel like it is a mix between American Idol and America’s Got Talent…just with Simon and Paula. It was pretty good, inspirational and such, but I’m not sure if I’ll be a loyal watcher.

I’m still excited to watch Modern Family, Parenthood, Grey’s Anatomy and Up All Night. There just aren’t enough hours in the day.

Also, per all my friends’ requests, I started reading The Hunger Games. A-mazing. I am a fan. I find myself getting excited to go to bed, so I can stay up and read…who am I?

Hope you have a great hump day :)

Crafting

Two weeks ago, my boss was traveling for a wedding, which meant I would be working from home. So with a few days of no commitments, I packed up my bags and went to visit my parents. I didn't think those days would happen very often post-college, but at the first chance I got, I sped home. Figures.

To say the weekend was a success would be the understatement of the century. Becks took me shopping literally every day and treated me to some fine dining. I had forgotten what it felt like to eat a home cooked meal.

On top of being treated like a princess, I decided to spend some of my time crafting. Now, I would like to think that I am crafty and creative, but I usually never finish a project. I get distracted too easily. But not this time!! I completed several crafts, and I can’t wait to share them with you.

First, my friend Rachel made this adorable garland type decortion with fabric flowers (CUTE) and hung it around the mirror in her bathroom. Adorable, right? So I followed this tutorial from Wednesday and made myself some fabric flowers.

Our bathroom didn’t really have a color scheme, so I just did lots of different fabrics. Here is the finished project:

You just can’t not be happy in our bathroom :) Also, gotta love an iPhone pic.

The next craft was quite the undertaking. I had seen these cute pictures of “ribbon walls” all over the blog world. I hadn’t the first clue how to make it, but Becks and I trekked down to JoAnn’s and talked to their pros. I bought about 5 different fabrics measured to the height I wanted my ribbon wall to be.

Then, we measured out 2 inch strips along the top of each piece of fabric.

Instead of cutting each strip (like we have stupidly planned to do) we just ripped the fabric. Genius. Becks and I could have literally kissed the woman who gave us that tip. Saved us so much time.

Finally, I just tied each strip to a curtain rod and place it behind my headboard.

Ta-da! It was super easy, and I love the way it brings more color and craftiness to my room.

Keeping my handy-woman streak alive when I got home, I added some pictures to this big empty wall in my room.

It looks really empty in the picture, but the frames really add a lot to my little room.

I also decided to paint our old, ugly white bookshelf gray! I think it looks 100 times better :)

Hope you are inspired to craft!

Friday Favs

1. Fall

I am so ready for the fall. Sometimes I find myself day-dreaming about this

This

And definitely these

This weather has been getting slightly less unbearable and reeealllyyy making me ready to put on scarves and boots. Bad.

2. My Birthday

I know you probably think I talk about my birthday all the time, but newsflash, it’s my second favorite holiday after Christmas. My friends did SUCH a good job surprising me and making me feel loved. Becks would be proud. I started off the morning with a decorated hallway and a shoutout from my favorite reality star @thecourtneykerr.

To say I was ecstatic is an understatement.

That night we had a “roommate dinner” that turned into a mini-Siggie reunion at Sfuzi’s.

De-lish.

Then, after cake and cupcakes, we really turned into night owls and went to see The Help. Incredible.

Best birthday I could have asked for with my most favorite people.

3. All things Beyonce.

Not many people can rock the bright orange poncho, but pregs Beyonce rocks it so well. Can you just imagine that baby’s fabulosity? Love it. Also, her new song is to die for. My new jam for sure.

Hope you enjoyed my Friday Favs! Happy Weekend J
