It's my party and I'll cry if I want to.

Where do the days go? I feel like the older I get, the faster the week goes. I can’t believe I graduated from college. No more school, forever. I can’t believe my college roommate is getting married in 4 months. It feels like yesterday we were day-dreaming about what it would be like when she got engaged.

(p.s. can NOT wait until 12.10.11)

This weekend, the whole “where do you see yourself in five years?” topic was brought up. It’s crazy to think that five years from today it will be the day before my 28th birthday. It will be the year of my 10 year high school reunion. My niece will be able to legally drink alcohol. And I have absolutely no idea where I will be. Maybe I will be a cruise line entertainer and introduce Sing Song to the thousands of people on board. Maybe I will be living in Chicago working for an elite event planner. Or maybe I will be Lawton, Oklahoma living in my parents’ basement. Who knows? All I do know, is that five years can come and go in a flash. And the past five years of my life (excluding roughly August 2007-January 2008) have been some of the best years I could have asked for. I find myself constantly thankful for the gift of great friends.

Speaking of great friends… After four years of being separated, my lifelong BFF, Partner in Crime, blood sister I never had, Amanda and I are finally living in the same city. This girl is my saving grace. She knows me sometimes better than I know myself, and she has been the best best friend in the history of the world. I am beyond thrilled that we are in the same city. Woo!

This past weekend, I took a spontaneous trip west with Tate to visit some of our friends (#twelve) before they get sucked back into the world of classes and homework. And let me tell you, this was exactly the weekend I needed. We spent Friday night catching up, and some of us acted a little cray. Then Saturday consisted of Sharky’s, swimming, sunburn and Perini’s. The perfect day. Our plans were to leave on Sunday, but somehow we got talked into staying until this morning.

So, yesterday, after church, we did some minor shopping, ate at a delicious little pizza place I had never been to (oh, the many hidden treasures of Abilene) and watched the VMA’s, where my homegirl Britney was the star of the show. Except for when that she-man Lady Gaga kept trying to take her spotlight. Not cool.

It was the perfect weekend of sweating my face off in Wayne and Roefer’s apartment, way-too-late-night girl talk with Emily and Rachel, and laughing so hard I choked. Three times. Great friends. Great weekend. What more can you ask for?

Oh, and I am dying for this. Just in case you were wondering…

Catch Up & 23.

The last couple of weeks have been rather busy. Last weekend, I made the trek back to Abilene for Ashley’s graduation. It was surprisingly refreshing to drive into that little town. Compared to Dallas, it seems to tiny. Like I could just pick it up and put it in my little pocket. My days consisted of babysitting and swimming with Rachel, eating the BEST meal of my life at Sharky’s, seeing Glee 3D with the biggest Gleeks I know, and renting Soul Surfer. If you haven’t had the privilege of watching this gem, I highly suggest it. Especially Carrie Underwood’s Oscar-worthy performance.

This weekend, I spent some QT with some of my favs exploring the magical city of Dallas. Then, I trekked over to Fort Worth for my Dad’s birthday celebration at the one and only Clown Burger. It was so great to spend a day with my family. My mom and I also went to see my old roommate Laura perform in Hairspray. She was Penny Pingleton, and let me just say, she was A-MAZING. Seriously.

23.

In exactly 9 days, I am turning…gulp…23.

23. Twenty-three. Whoah. 23 year-olds are smart. They are sophisticated. They dress up for work every day, order expensive salads at lunch, drink wine, spend the weekends at clubs and definitely know where they are going in life.

Or at least, that’s what I thought.

In no way do I feel old enough to be 23. I usually wake up after 9am, rarely wear anything other than my pajamas at home, never order salads at dinner, and on a Friday night, you can find me browsing Pinterest or watching Big Brother while day dreaming about where I want to be in a year. Yep, this 23 year old has no idea where she is going.

But hey! 23 is not that old. It’s not! I did some research and found other famous 23 year old women.

Rihanna. HOT. And 23.

Alexa Vega, remember? From Spy Kids!

Julianne Hough—23 and fabulous!

So until that dreaded day, I will soak in being 22, hip and young. Or at least just being 22.

Weekly Recap

1.DVR

Since our DVR entered our lives last week, I have already fallen in love. Yes, you read that right. I am in love. Now I am able to watch some of my favorite summer shows sans commercials. What is better than that?

Last week, we got this crew together and watched SYTYCD.

Not my favorite season, but I can say that Caitlynn passed Melanie to be the #1 dancer in my heart. And I voted for her 20 times.

Love her. Girl’s got some swag. I'm going to miss her.

We definitely had a season premiere watching party for this gem…

But, perhaps the season premiere I am MOST looking forward to, would have to be Most Eligible Dallas.

No, not because I am the star (maybe next season) but because one of the stars of the show just happens to be my sister. My Siggie sister. More detailed blog post to come…

2.Dallas Nightlife

Last Friday night, I ventured out to Uptown and had my first night on the town. I dragged Emily Caldwell out with my high school BFF and her boo. We went to this place called Teddy’s where we knew one of the dancers.

While I am proud of myself for exploring the night life of Dallas, I was not nearly snobby enough to ever show my face their again. Oh, well.

3.Priority Access

My sweet friends Caldwell and Ashley stumbled across some free tickets to see the country group The Band Perry at Gilley’s Dallas last night. So, we countrified ourselves up, grabbed our friend McVey, and skipped the line thanks to priority access. Holla.

Let me tell you, I don’t love hick country things. Sometimes it legitimately makes me sick. But, this girl’s got some pipes. Big time. ANDDD they were also filming for Jimmy Kimmel Live! You better believe we threw up some pinkies and Siggie clap. Watch for it next week.

4.Abilene

This weekend will be my first trip back to Abilene since our bittersweet departure. To say I am excited is an understatement. I cannot wait to taste the sweetness of Sharky’s for lunch, go swimming with Rachy and her babies, and of course watch my roommate become a college grad!

Until next time, friends!

Hotel Apartyment

This weekend we hosted our very first house guests! Some of our best friends made a trip in from Abilene to spend the weekend in Dallas. Rachel and Wayne, you will probably only ever hear me refer to them as Waynechel, came in town for a friend's wedding and they let Roefer tag along.

Of course our first stop was a late night trip to Pokey O's.

If you have never been there, go. Basically, you pick out cookies and a flavor of Bluebell ice cream and they make you an old-fashioned ice cream sandwich. Yum.

Saturday consisted of shopping at one of my favorite places in Dallas. NorthPark. And let me tell you… I love that place, but they took an awful lot of my money. Funny how that happens.

Then we headed over to Freebirds for lunch. It was good, but Sharky’s is still #1 in my heart.

After a quick stop at Mockingbird Station to pick up my new bedding (EEK!) we forced the boys to help us with some handy work at the apartment. I’m sure they loved it. Then, because they boys loved to help us SO much, we painted two walls in our living room.

Here is the before:

Here is the after:

It’s a light coral color, and it really doesn’t look as bright in person. We love it. There is just no way you can’t be happy when you walk into our living room! I promise we will have more pictures to come as we decorate.

Sunday, we went to church at Watermark followed by lunch at the always delicious Pei Wei (or Pee Wee as Roefer likes to call it). Also, let it be known that we sat only a few seats away from THE Jason Castro from American Idol at church. I like to say it is our first Dallas celebrity sighting. Check. Then our friends made the long trek back to Abs and I miss them already! Please come back sooooon!!

I would also like to note that today, August 1,2011, we officially have cable and internet in our apartment! It’s hard to imagine that we actually lived without these luxuries for two weeks, but, thankfully, we made it. Phew. Until next time…
